The world is changing
I was just reading this post:
It might just be my imagination, but I feel like I'm noticing two parallel trends:
1. An increase in defect rates in the hardware I buy
2. Significant improvements to the process of warranty exchangeMy gut instinct is that it's probably a wash, and you're better off assuming a customer-is-right policy and just doing the exchange.
From my own personal experience, the quality of hardware is going down. And the obvious thing to do is to not handle these issues through human support since this would require a lot of them and cost a lot of money. I guess also that the salary of the people manufacturing and shipping new products is far lower thatn the one of people handling support and paperwork.
